Information policy

Обновлено 27.02.2024 06:18

In modern society, information has become the driving force of society.

Today, most countries treat information differently than before, realizing that any diplomatic, economic, or military action must necessarily have informational and psychological consequences.

The first variants of mass society, which developed in the United States and a number of European countries, were characterized by an increased role of information in the development of human civilization. These two components - the mass character and the new role of information in the structure of civilization - have created opportunities for the military application of information and communication technologies.

After all, today the failure of a computer or information system can lead to the suspension of the functioning of one of the specific spheres of society.

The opening of such channels of mass communication as radio, cinema, and television, which took place in the 20th century, qualitatively changed the technologies of influence. These channels are characterized by the fact that they are built not only on information, but also on the development of entertainment, therefore their impact on the population is unusually high.

The current XXI century is characterized by the increasing influence of the Internet and information and communication technologies on all mankind. New technologies are invading all spheres of human life and radically changing the way we think about them. The role of information in society is not only increasing, it is becoming dominant, comprehensive and forms a completely new relationship between people, between man and society, between different strata of society, between countries. The state of the information space determines the state of economics and science, public and social relations, culture and morality, forms the agenda of society, the style of behavior and consumption.

Information policy analyzes the organization of the information space, the types of consumption of an information product in a certain territory, and the information preferences of the population. She is also interested in using information resources for various public purposes.

Information policy can help in solving economic, social, and military tasks, since modern societies are largely built on their information component.
